How to Make Trail Mix Chocolate Bark
Key Ingredients
- Chocolate – I went with this 70% Dark Chocolate but you can use your preferred type of chocolate whether it be dark, milk or white chocolate. Even better, you can use white and dark chocolate and swirl for a marble effect.
- Nuts – I went with sliced almonds and pistachios. Some other great options would be cashews or pecans. You can even go with seeds if nut allergies are a concern.
- Dried fruits – some of my favorite dried fruits to snack on are cranberries and bananas. So naturally, these were the options I went with; however, raisins, dried mangos or coconut chips would be great alternatives as well.
- Sea Salt – to balance the sweetness of these trail mix chocolate barks, I resorted to old reliable – flaky sea salt. Only a light sprinkling of sea salt is used to help bring out the flavors of the chocolate, dried fruits, and nuts.
To Make Trail Mix Chocolate Bark
- Melt – chocolate in a double boiler stirring occasionally until completely melted. Alternatively, chocolate can be melted in the microwave at 30 second intervals until it is about 80% melted. Stir warmed chocolate until remaining pieces of chocolate are completely melted.
- Spread – melted chocolate on to a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Top – evenly spread dried fruits and nuts over the surface of chocolate to the edges and end with a light sprinkling of sea salt to taste. There may be some left over toppings.
